The Eiffel Tower on its way to UNESCO: A Universal Symbol at the Heart of a Historic Candidacy

Philippe Coupérie-Eiffel and the “Comité de soutien à l’inscription de la Tour Eiffel au Patrimoine mondial” de l’UNESCO officially announce the creation of an unprecedented candidacy file aimed at recognizing the Tour Eiffel as a cultural heritage site of outstanding universal value. A masterpiece of human genius.

Erected in 1889 for the Paris Exposition Universelle, the Tour Eiffel has embodied the alliance of architectural daring, technical innovation, and scientific progress for over a century. It fully meets several criteria defined by UNESCO, including:

  • Criterion (i): A masterpiece of human creative genius
  • Criterion (ii): Exchange of cultural and technical influences on a global scale
  • Criterion (iv): Exceptional example of a type of construction
  • Criterion (vi): Association with ideas of universal significance

A living, universal, and unifying heritage

A symbol of modernity and openness, the Tour Eiffel is a driving force for cultural and scientific influence. It has inspired generations of architects and artists around the world. Its role in the international collective imagination makes it one of the world’s most recognized and visited monuments.

An unprecedented analytical approach with Universæ Analysis

The candidacy file also relies on the Universæ Analysis methodology, developed by the Cercle d’Études Scientifiques Pierre Rayer, which demonstrates the universal dimension of the Tour Eiffel through an interdisciplinary reading combining sacred geometry, the transmission of knowledge, and timeless symbolism. By drawing parallels with major structures such as the pyramids of Egypt, the analysis highlights the historical and intellectual continuity in which the Tour Eiffel is embedded.

A call for international mobilization

The Honorary Committee, gathered around prominent figures from the cultural, scientific, and diplomatic worlds, calls for the official recognition of the Tour Eiffel as humanity’s heritage. This project is part of a dynamic for transmitting universal values, international cooperation, and raising awareness about preserving our shared heritage.

“The Tour Eiffel is much more than a monument: it is a bridge between peoples, a tribute to human genius, and a beacon for future generations,” says the support committee chairman.
