POUR L’INSCRIPTION DE LA TOUR EIFFEL AU PATRIMOINE MONDIAL À TITRE INDIVIDUEL

Estimated value of the Eiffel Tower according to Monza e Brianza Chamber of Commerce: a world record!

A symbol whose economic, cultural, and emotional significance transcends borders.

Total number of visitors since its inauguration in 1889.

A crowd that reflects its power of attraction and its deep essence in the collective imagination.

What if the Eiffel Tower, beyond its technical brilliance, embodied a universal heritage rooted in ancient knowledge, sacred proportions, and timeless symbols?

As a direct descendant of Gustave Eiffel, I have commissioned the Cercle d’Études Scientifiques Pierre Rayer to conduct an unprecedented research project using the Universæ Analysis scientific methodology. This recognized methodology has been presented at numerous official events, including at UNESCO headquarters and under the high patronage of President Emmanuel Macron at the Ministry of Economy and Finance on the occasion of Vision Golfe 2024.

Based on geometry, Egyptology, mathematics, and physics, this methodology highlights the cultural, scholarly, and symbolic foundations of the Eiffel Tower. It reveals that the Eiffel Tower is not limited to 19th-century engineering but rather expresses an architectural vision grounded in universal laws and an ongoing dialogue between bodies of knowledge.

This research confirms that the Eiffel Tower fully meets the criteria for Outstanding Universal Value as defined by the 1972 World Heritage Convention. It is a masterpiece of human creative genius (criterion i), reflects significant exchanges between ancient traditions and modern science (criterion ii), represents a decisive step in the evolution of global architecture (criterion iv), and stands as a universal symbol of shared knowledge and unity among peoples (criterion vi).
Therefore, it deserves to be inscribed on the UNESCO World Heritage List in its own name, not only for what it represented in its time but also for what it continues to embody today: a living bridge between disciplines, cultures, and civilizations.

Philippe Coupérie-Eiffel
Co-President

Accordingly, we propose:

  • The official listing of the Eiffel Tower as a standalone historic monument of outstanding significance

  • A separate and dedicated inscription on the UNESCO World Heritage List

The Eiffel Tower, presented through Universæ Analysis to Minister Madame Rachida Dati at the Ministry of Culture

Today, it is only natural to question the place France wishes to give to one of its most universal symbols. The Eiffel Tower is not merely a technical feat. It embodies a dialogue between cultures, a shared memory, and a depth of meaning that transcends borders.
